JJ Nelson
Pastor of Students
JJ is originally from Oxford, MS. Having met his wife, Katharine, at Central Hills Baptist Retreat, the two married in March of 2017. They have three sons, Jack, Jim, and John Thomas. Some of the hobbies that JJ enjoys are watching Mississippi State sports, hunting, fishing, playing with his boys, and going on dinner dates with Katharine.
Having previously served in student ministry for six years, JJ began the call as Pastor to Students and Families in June 2021 at Collinsville FBC. He strives to see parents equipped to walk with their students as they grow in Christ, students engaged in the Word and mission of God, and see those who do not know God come to saving faith.
JJ graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
